Jazz Passacaglia Part 1 (Identity 174)

Jazz Passacaglia Part 1 (Identity 174) is a set of variations designed to reflect the stylistic evolution of jazz.  It begins with the theme - which is a spiritual based on Deep River.  This is followed by a variation in ragtime style, a variation in New Orleans style, a variation in pre-swing style, a variation in swing style, a fugal variation in bebop style, and concluding in variations in post 1950’s styles. Symphony No.17 Movement 4 - Homage to Quincy Jones

A tribute to a body of work that continues to shape generations, defined by excellence, vision, and emotional resonance.

This is from movement two of my fifth symphony, Homage to Swing. It is a unique jazz fugue fugue which goes through all of the jazz styles symphonically, including ragtime.  It was one of God's greatest musical gifts to me. A vibrant and intricately layered work that weaves multiple musical voices into a richly textured whole. Energetic, sophisticated, and rhythmically alive, it offers a powerful sense of movement and exchange that makes it especially compelling for dance.

A Song for Annell

A lyrical and intimate work shaped by the quiet strength of enduring love. Richly textured and emotionally grounded, it explores the subtle push and pull between connection and independence, tenderness and passion. The music offers a nuanced foundation for a duet, where movement can reflect devotion, resilience, and the evolving rhythm of two lives in harmony.

THREE RAG OFFERING

A spirited suite rooted in the legacy of Scott Joplin, honoring his influence through vibrant syncopation and refined musical wit. Each movement carries its own character while drawing from the elegance and rhythmic vitality of classic ragtime, creating a richly textured and expressive foundation for dance.
